The fine print

Content rules

Version 1 June 2026. These rules sit inside our terms and conditions and apply to everything published on the wall.

What you can publish

The wall is advertising space, so artwork is allowed to be commercial. What has to be true of anything you publish:

  • You have the right to use it, or you own it.
  • It is lawful in the United Kingdom.
  • It is not sexually explicit, hateful, or abusive towards a person or group.
  • It does not copy someone else's protected work, brand or logo without their permission.
  • It does not show a real person's private information, or harass anyone.

Pixels are permanent, so please choose artwork you are happy to stand behind. We suggest keeping it to something you own or have licensed.

How artwork is checked

Every upload and every edit is screened automatically as you save it. The screen looks for the things listed above. It does not decide what is tasteful, and it is not a lawyer.

If the screen is unsure about something, it sets your artwork aside for a person to look at rather than removing it. A flag is a request for a human review, never an automatic rejection. Most artwork passes straight through and stays on the wall the whole time.

A reviewer can then approve it, ask you to change it, or take the display down. You can see the status of your own artwork in My pixels, and you can edit and resubmit artwork that has been set aside.

When we take artwork down

We may stop displaying artwork where:

  • These rules have been broken.
  • The content is unlawful, or we have been told it is.
  • Someone's intellectual property has been infringed.
  • We have received a legal complaint about it.
  • It is otherwise unsuitable for a publicly displayed wall.

Where we can, we will tell you what happened and why. Taking artwork down never erases your purchase: you keep your pixels and your place on the wall.

Payments and refunds

If we take your artwork down because these rules were broken, we are not able to refund what you paid for the pixels. That does not affect any refund you are entitled to under consumer law, and nothing here limits your statutory rights, including your rights if something we have done is wrong.

If your artwork is taken down for a reason that is not your fault, or you have a legal right to a refund, contact us and we will sort it out.

Who is responsible for artwork

You are responsible for the artwork you publish. If publishing it means the wall's owner has to deal with a claim from someone else over something you uploaded, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim. We are not asking you to pay for anything that is our own doing, and this does not apply to artwork you did not publish.

Tell us if something breaks the rules

Every artwork page has a Report this artwork button. You do not need an account to use it. Choose the reason, add what you saw, and a reviewer will look at it. Reports are read by a person, and we act on what we find rather than on the number of reports.

Contact

Questions about these rules, or a decision made under them: reply to any email from the wall, or tell us through a report on the artwork concerned.
